Collection: Fairway Drivers

Fairway drivers bridge the gap between midranges and distance drivers. They deliver speed, straight flights, less skip, and can manage shorter distances. This is why if you are trying to improve your distance throwing, work with fairway drivers first before moving onto distance drivers.

Fairway drivers typically have speed ratings ranging from 6 to 9 (overlapping with distance drivers). They tend to have a lower profile, which improves aerodynamic characteristics in relation to midranges and  thus can travel a greater distance at a faster speed.

Compared to a distance driver, a fairway driver will have less of a sharp edge and will include a smaller rim and wider shape. This is great for beginners and players with smaller hands, as it provides a more comfortable grip.

The typical fairway driver can reach a distance of 250 to 350 feet with the right amount of power and technique. Beginner to intermediate players often find this disc type easier to control and therefore will be able to achieve this distance at their skill level.

For many, the fairway driver becomes the default for longer shots, in terms of control. Not every player will develop the strength and speed to comfortably use a distance driver - and that's okay!

Finally, your fairway driver comes in handy when a midrange won't cover the ground you need, but a distance driver will travel too far. When it is windy, a fairway driver also tends to have more power over a midrange to complete your throw.
